Izu Skyline — Atami to Amagi Kogen Ridge Run.
The Izu Skyline is a 40.6km toll road running the spine of the eastern Izu Peninsula, free of traffic lights and crossings. From the climb above Atami it rides the ridgeline south with Sagami Bay on one side and Mt Fuji on the other, past the perfect cinder cone of Mt Omuro to the highlands of Amagi Kogen. A sweeping, fast, view-saturated favourite for Tokyo sport riders.

The route.
AtamiStart · Start in the seaside onsen city of Atami. Fuel up at the foot before climbing to the Skyline — there are no stations on the toll road itself.
Jukkoku Pass (Jukkoku-toge)Mountain Pass · The northern gateway to the Skyline, named for its historic view over ten old provinces. Cable car and sweeping Sagami Bay panorama.
Mt Kurotake LookoutScenic Point · A signature pull-off where Mt Fuji floats above the ridgeline to the west while Sagami Bay glitters to the east. Best light before midday haze.
Mt OmuroPhoto Spot · The flawless grass-covered cinder cone just east of the Skyline's south end. A chairlift rims the crater; the burned-grass slopes turn emerald in summer.
Amagi KogenEnd · End at the southern Amagi-kogen interchange in the cool forested highlands. Coffee stops and the trailheads of the Amagi range.
