The N13 south from Midelt is one of Morocco's great transition rides: over the eastern High Atlas, through the hand-cut Tunnel du Légionnaire, and down the Ziz river canyon where rust-red cliffs frame a ribbon of palms. Past Errachidia the valley widens into the Tafilalet — one of the largest oases on earth — ending at Erfoud on the edge of the Sahara.

MideltStart · Apple capital of Morocco at 1,500m beneath Jbel Ayachi. Fuel up here — reliable stations are scarce until Errachidia, 125km south.
Ziz Gorges & Tunnel du LégionnaireScenic Point · The N13 threads the Ziz river canyon between sheer red walls. The short tunnel at the northern entrance was cut by hand by the French Foreign Legion in 1927.
ErrachidiaRestaurant · Regional capital and garrison town. Last full-service stop of the day — grilled-meat restaurants near the central market, plus banks and pharmacies.
Source Bleue de MeskiScenic Point · Natural spring pool in a palm grove 20km southeast of Errachidia, just off the N13. Locals swim here in summer; mint tea stalls under the palms.
