A circuit through Morocco's two most famous gorges from Ouarzazate. The Dadès Gorge is famous for its bizarre rock formations and the village of Aït Benhaddou at its mouth. The Todra Gorge narrows to just 10m wide while rising 300m on both sides — one of the most dramatic slot canyons anywhere in Africa.

OuarzazateStart · Start in Ouarzazate. Head east on the N10 toward the gorges.

Skoura OasisScenic Point · 1,000-year-old palm oasis with kasbahs rising from the palms. Amerhidil Kasbah is the most photogenic.

Dadès Gorge — Monkey Fingers RocksScenic Point · The famous eroded rock formations at the gorge's lower end look like giant fingers. The road climbs through them.

Dadès Gorge Upper RoadMountain Pass · The upper gorge narrows and the road becomes seriously twisty. 26 hairpins in quick succession — Morocco's most exciting mountain road.

TinerhirRestaurant · Lunch in Tinerhir oasis town. Head north on the R703 to the Todra Gorge.

Todra Gorge Slot CanyonPhoto Spot · The gorge narrows to 10m at its tightest point. Cliff walls rise 300m vertically on both sides. Rock climbers hang from the walls above you.
