Beni Snassen & Saïdia Mediterranean Coast — Oujda Eastern Loop.
A day loop through Morocco's overlooked eastern corner. From the Algerian-border city of Oujda the route climbs into the limestone Beni Snassen mountains via the Zegzel Gorge — a twisting switchback road carved through sheer cliffs and Berber orchard villages — then drops to the Mediterranean at Saïdia, the 14km golden-sand beach known as the Blue Pearl. Few tourists, excellent tarmac, big landscape contrasts.

OujdaStart · Start in Oujda — Morocco's eastern capital, 15km from Algeria. The Bab Sidi Abdelouahab gate marks the old medina. Fuel up and head north on the N2 toward Berkane.
BerkaneScenic Point · Citrus capital of Morocco — Clémentine de Berkane has protected origin status. Orange and clementine orchards line the road in every direction. Gateway to the Beni Snassen.
Zegzel GorgeScenic Point · Narrow limestone canyon road climbing into the Beni Snassen massif. Sheer cliffs, twisty switchbacks, and stone Berber villages clinging to the slopes. Cool air after the Berkane plain.
Grotte du ChameauPhoto Spot · Vast limestone cave with stalactites resembling a kneeling camel — the formation gives the cave its name. Cool retreat from summer heat. Easy 10-minute walk from the road.
