The rolling patchwork farmland of central Hokkaido at its most photogenic. The hills around Biei are carpeted in lavender, sunflowers, wheat, and potato fields arranged in geometric colour blocks. Late July–August is peak season. Quiet rural roads, no hairpins — pure pastoral beauty.
