Cerro Tronador β Bariloche to Pampa Linda.
A short but spectacular ride from Bariloche to the foot of Cerro Tronador, the 3,478m thunderer on the Chile-Argentina border. Turquoise Lago Mascardi gives way to a narrow one-way gravel road that climbs to Pampa Linda and the Ventisquero Negro, where ice avalanches rumble off the glacier. Mind the timed one-way traffic schedule.

BarilocheStart Β· Start in San Carlos de Bariloche. Note: the Pampa Linda road is one-way by timetable β uphill traffic only until early afternoon, downhill after. Check the daily schedule before leaving.
Lago MascardiScenic Point Β· Glacial lake in shades of jade and turquoise. The pavement ends near here and a narrow gravel road follows the shore toward Tronador.
