Overview

Kodaikanal & Berijam Lake — Madurai Princess of Hills Loop.

A 2-day loop from temple-city Madurai up into the Palani Hills to Kodaikanal — the "Princess of Hill Stations" at 2,100m. Day one climbs the 40-hairpin ghat through shola forest to Kodai Lake and the iconic Pillar Rocks. Day two runs the restricted Berijam Lake forest road (permit required from Kodai Tourism, closed Wednesdays) before descending via Palani's hilltop Murugan temple and Dindigul to Madurai. Cool relief from the Tamil plains; Oct–Feb best.
