From the royal town of Nájera the LR-113 follows the river to Anguiano — famous for its stilt-dancers — then a narrow mountain spur climbs through beech woods to the Monasterio de Valvanera, home of the patroness of La Rioja, beneath San Lorenzo, the region's highest peak (2,271m).
