A ride up the Cidacos into the Rioja Baja, the quieter, wilder southern side of La Rioja. From the Roman city of Calahorra the LR-115 climbs past the cave-riddled cliffs of Arnedo to the spa village of Arnedillo, then up a narrowing gorge to Enciso, home to some of the best-preserved dinosaur trackways in Europe. Griffon vultures ride the thermals overhead the whole way. Ridden as an out-and-back up the dead-end valley.

CalahorraStart · Roman city at the Ebro-Cidacos confluence and the capital of the Rioja Baja. Fuel up and leave town on the LR-123/LR-115 up the Cidacos.
ArnedoScenic Point · The town of caves: red sandstone cliffs honeycombed with old cave dwellings rise straight above the streets. Shoe-making capital of the valley.
ArnedilloRestaurant · Spa village with free riverside thermal pools (Las Pozas) at about 50C, and a vulture viewpoint above town. Ideal lunch and soak stop.
Enciso — Dinosaur IchnitesPhoto Spot · The road ends near Enciso, whose Cretaceous trackways (Virgen del Campo, Valdecillo, La Senoba) are among the richest in Europe. Visit the paleontology centre.
