A classic Antioquia day ride east of Medellín to Guatapé reservoir and La Piedra del Peñol — a 200m granite monolith with 740 steps to its summit and 360° views across 70 emerald-coloured reservoir islands. Guatapé town is the most colourful in Colombia, with every building base covered in raised 3D zócalo murals. Smooth roads, easy pacing, and one of the most distinctive rock formations in South America.

MedellínStart · Start early — the Guatapé road fills by 10am on weekends. Take the Autopista Medellín-Bogotá east toward Rionegro.
RionegroScenic Point · Exit the Valle de Aburrá through Rionegro at 2,135m. The landscape opens to rolling eastern Antioquia highlands and coffee farms.
