IzmirStart · Start from Izmir waterfront (Kordon). The D550 south is fast and well-surfaced. Fuel here — next major fuel is Selçuk, 80 km south.
Ephesus — SelçukScenic Point · The best-preserved Roman city in the world: the Library of Celsus, marble-paved Curetes Street, the Great Theatre seating 25,000. Arrive before 10 am to avoid the cruise-ship crowds.
PrienePhoto Spot · Hilltop Hellenistic city with five surviving columns of the Temple of Athena and sweeping views over the Büyük Menderes delta. Far fewer tourists than Ephesus and completely unreconstructed.
MiletusScenic Point · Once a great Ionian port, now marooned inland by silt — its enormous Roman theatre (15,000 seats) rises from flat farmland like a stranded ship. Quick 30-minute stop.
MilasOvernight · Market town well positioned for the second day push inland. Good choice of hotels and restaurants. Fuel up before dinner for the morning start east toward Aphrodisias.
AphrodisiasPhoto Spot · Arguably the most beautiful classical site in Turkey — a vast excavated city devoted to Aphrodite with a perfectly preserved stadium, sculpted museum and the photogenic Temple of Aphrodite. Allow 2 hours.
Pamukkale TravertinesScenic Point · Dazzling white calcium carbonate terraces cascading down the hillside, fed by 35°C thermal springs. Walk the terraces barefoot. The ancient city of Hierapolis sits on the plateau above.
DenizliEnd · End in Denizli — major transport hub with good food options. The city is 6 km from Pamukkale and serves as the practical finish point for the route.
