A short but spectacular descent from the Andean town of Tarma into the Chanchamayo cloud forest. The road corkscrews down more than 2,300m through tight switchbacks, the air warming and thickening with every bend until eucalyptus gives way to tree ferns, coffee and the humid selva central at San Ramón and La Merced.
