A 240km Middle Atlas day loop from the imperial city of Fez through Switzerland-in-Africa Ifrane and the ancient Atlas cedar forests around Azrou, returning via the Jewish-heritage cherry town of Sefrou. Cool air at 1,800m even when Fez bakes at 35C. Wild Barbary macaques sit on the road through the cedar forest and will climb on parked motorcycles. Best ridden April through October — the road can ice over in winter.
