Volubilis & Imperial Cities Loop — Fez to Meknes via Moulay Idriss.
A one-day Imperial Morocco circuit from Fez through the holy hilltop town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun to the UNESCO Roman ruins of Volubilis and the grand 17th-century gates of Meknes. The route crosses olive-covered foothills between three of Morocco's four imperial cities. Roman mosaics still sit in situ where they were laid 1,800 years ago — and the white tomb of Moulay Idriss I (the founder of Morocco) stands on the hillside above.
