Baden-BadenStart · The elegant spa resort at the northern gateway to the Black Forest. Fill up fuel before leaving — the B500 ridge has no petrol stations. A morning coffee on the Kurhaus terrace sets the tone.
Geroldsauer WaterfallScenic Point · A series of cascades tucked into the forest valley just minutes from Baden-Baden — the road enters the forest character immediately here.
Bühlerhöhe RidgeScenic Point · The road reaches the crest with views west across the Rhine plain to the Alsatian Vosges mountains in France. On clear mornings the Strasbourg cathedral spire is visible 35 km away.
MummelseePhoto Spot · A dark glacial lake at 1,036 m on the B500 crest — the most photographed natural feature in the Black Forest. The Hornisgrinde radio tower looms above on the ridge. A café at the shore is open from May.
Hornisgrinde SummitScenic Point · Highest point in the northern Black Forest at 1,163 m. A short walk from the road leads to views extending to the Vosges and, on exceptional days, the Swiss Alps. Marked "Schwarzwaldverein" trail.

FreudenstadtEnd · Germany's largest marketplace — a perfectly planned Baroque town rebuilt after WWII bombing. The Ratskeller serves the best Black Forest gateau in the region. The route south to Alpirsbach on the B462 extends the day perfectly.
