A short, scenic mountain road from Curacautín east to the Araucanía high frontier, beneath the smoking Lonquimay volcano. The route passes through the Malalcahuello araucaria reserve and the single-lane Las Raíces tunnel — long one of South America's longest road tunnels — into the wide Lonquimay valley near the headwaters of the Bío Bío.
