The Pinnacle Road from Hobart to the summit of kunanyi / Mt Wellington (1,271m) is Tasmania's most iconic short ride — 22km of sealed switchbacks from sea level to alpine plateau, with the Organ Pipes dolerite cliffs and 360° views across Hobart, the Derwent estuary, and far west to the World Heritage Area. The summit can have snow even in summer. Built in 1937 by Depression-era unemployment relief crews.

Hobart SalamancaStart · Start at Salamanca on the Hobart waterfront. Coffee at one of the Saturday-market stalls if it's a Saturday morning. Pinnacle Road departs via Davey Street and Huon Road.
The Springs Picnic AreaScenic Point · Halfway up at 720m — tree-fern gullies and mountain ash. A picnic area where the original chalet stood until the 1967 bushfires. Last toilets before the summit.
