Overview

Great Central Road — Laverton to Uluru.

The western half of the legendary Outback Way — Australia's longest shortcut — crossing about 1,100km of red desert and Aboriginal lands from the goldfields town of Laverton to the base of Uluru. Red gravel, roadhouses hundreds of kilometres apart, and the Rawlinson and Petermann Ranges. Carry extra fuel and water; a Ngaanyatjarra transit permit is required.
