The route.
InnerkremsStart · Northern entry point of the Nockalmstraße. Toll is paid at the booth here. The road climbs immediately into the rounded, glacier-smoothed Nock landscape — no sharp peaks, all gentle humps.
Nockalmstraße PlateauScenic Point · The plateau section above 1,800 m — open tundra, alpine flowers, and zero treeline obstruction. The Nockalm ridgeline feels prehistoric in its smoothness.
WindebenseePhoto Spot · A small alpine lake perfectly reflecting the rounded Nock summits above. Moorland birds nest in the reeds at the lake edge in summer.
Nockalm Summit AreaMountain Pass · The highest point on the route near 2,000 m. Panoramic views of the entire Nockberge reserve — a landscape unlike any other Alpine road. The absence of dramatic peaks gives it a vast, lunar quality.
Ebene ReichenauEnd · The southern exit point of the Nockalmstraße. The village has a guesthouse and café. The nearby Turracher Höhe (connected by the B95) is worth adding for a longer day loop into Styria.
