The original American scenic highway. Skyline Drive follows the crest of the Blue Ridge for 105 miles through Shenandoah National Park — 75 overlooks, dense second-growth hardwood forest, and a 35 mph limit that makes it pure riding meditation. The deer are so accustomed to slow traffic that they graze roadside. At any season it's beautiful; in October, the canopy turns burgundy and gold and the haze fills every valley like smoke.
