Phu Thap Boek — 111 Bends to Thailand's Cabbage Mountain.
Phu Thap Boek (1,794m) is the highest point in Phetchabun province and home to one of Thailand's most savage climbs — 111 bends gaining well over a kilometre of altitude on gradients that punish a lazy gear choice. The summit is a different world: Hmong farming villages, cabbage terraces draped over every slope, and a sea of mist below at dawn. Ride it as an out-and-back from Lom Sak; the descent is a masterclass in engine braking.

The route.
Lom SakStart · Start in Lom Sak on Highway 12. Leave early — the summit mist sea burns off by mid-morning. Fuel up in town before turning north.
Lom KaoFuel Stop · Last proper town before the mountain. Top up here — from Lom Kao the summit road gains over 1,200m in under 25km and there is nothing on the climb.
Phu Thap Boek Summit — 1,794mMountain Pass · Highest point in the Phetchabun range, reached by 111 brutally steep bends. Hmong cabbage terraces blanket the slopes; on clear mornings a sea of mist fills the valleys below.
Lom Kao MarketRestaurant · Back down the same 111 bends — engine braking, not brake pads, or you'll cook them. Late lunch at the market: Hmong-grown highland vegetables and local noodle stalls.
Lom SakEnd · Return to Lom Sak. Pair this with the Khao Kho loop on a second day — the two climbs face each other across the valley.
