Chiang MaiStart · Start in Chiang Mai. Take Route 1096 north through Mae Rim. Quick 100km loop — a perfect post-arrival shake-down ride.

Mae RimScenic Point · Mae Rim district — orchid farms and elephant sanctuaries. Coffee at a roadside café. Route 1096 begins climbing seriously from here into the Mae Sa valley.

SamoengRestaurant · Samoeng village in a valley of strawberry fields and Hmong farms. Cool mountain air at 800m. Lunch on the main road. Return south via Route 1269.

Hang DongEnd · End at Hang Dong south of Chiang Mai, completing the loop. Famous teakwood furniture workshops and antiques markets line the road back into Chiang Mai.
