A 2-day Isaan circuit from Ubon Ratchathani to Thailand's far eastern edge, where the Mun River meets the Mekong. Day one reaches the Pha Taem cliff and its 3,000-year-old rock paintings above the river; day two starts at dawn at Sam Phan Bok, the Grand Canyon of Siam — 3,000 water-carved potholes in a sandstone reef exposed only in the dry season. Flat, fast, nearly empty roads through the Isaan heartland.
