Khao Yai National Park — Pak Chong Day Loop.
A day loop into Thailand's first national park (1962) and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Khao Yai is one of Asia's most accessible rainforest parks — elephants, gibbons, hornbills, and pythons all live within an hour of Pak Chong town. The Thanarat Road climbs from lowland farms into evergreen forest, past the visitor centre at 760m, then descends to the Haew Suwat waterfall used as a location in Danny Boyle's 1999 film "The Beach". Best in cool season (November–February).

Pak ChongStart · Start in Pak Chong, the gateway town to Khao Yai. UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005. Fuel up here — limited fuel inside the park itself.
Thanarat Road Forest ClimbScenic Point · The Thanarat Road climbs steeply from lowland farms into evergreen rainforest. Great hornbills are common on the upper slopes — watch for them crossing the road in pairs.
Khao Yai Visitor Center — 760mMountain Pass · Park HQ at the Chao Por Khao Yai Shrine entrance. Information centre, wildlife maps, and ranger checkpoints. Macaques and gibbons gather here — secure your valuables before walking off.
Haew Suwat WaterfallPhoto Spot · 20m forest waterfall in deep evergreen jungle. Featured in Danny Boyle's 1999 film "The Beach". Short walk down from the parking lot to the viewing platform.
Pak Chong Vineyard CountryScenic Point · On the descent the Korat plateau approaches. Surprisingly, this is Thailand's wine region — high-altitude Shiraz, Chenin Blanc, and Syrah are produced at nearby estates.
