Romania's highest and most dramatic road, reaching 2,145m at Urdele Pass on the spine of the Parâng Mountains. Known as the King's Road after Carol II drove it in the 1930s, it remained closed to civilians for decades under communism. Raw alpine landscapes, dramatic switchbacks above the treeline, and virtually no traffic.
