The classic High Atlas day loop from Marrakech. The P2017 follows the Ourika river south through Berber villages to Setti Fatma and its seven waterfalls, then the route doubles back to climb the spectacular switchback road to Oukaimeden — Africa's highest ski resort at 2,600m. On a clear day the Toubkal massif fills the horizon. Back in Marrakech by sunset.

ROUTE

MarrakechStart · Start at the southern edge of Marrakech and take the P2017 toward the Ourika Valley. Fuel up before leaving the city — stations get sparse in the valley.

Setti Fatma — Seven WaterfallsScenic Point · Berber village at the end of the Ourika valley road. Park and walk 30 minutes to the first of seven waterfalls. Arrive before the Marrakech day-trip crowds.

Setti Fatma Riverside GrillsRestaurant · Tagine restaurants with tables set literally in the river. Trout and chicken tagine cooked over charcoal — the proper Ourika lunch.

Oukaimeden (2,600m)Mountain Pass · Africa's highest ski station. The climb from the Ourika fork is a superb run of hairpins. Prehistoric rock carvings near the lake. The road can be icy October–April — check conditions.

MarrakechEnd · Descend via the western road through the Kik plateau back to Marrakech. Watch for stray livestock in the villages at dusk.
