Croatia's Adriatic coastline offers one of Europe's most scenic coastal rides. The D8 highway (Jadranska Magistrala) stretches over 600 kilometres from Rijeka to Dubrovnik, hugging the coast with views of islands, crystal-clear water, and medieval walled towns. Inland, the Velebit mountain range and Plitvice Lakes region deliver technical mountain riding through dense forest.
The riding season runs from May through September, with July and August being hot and busy along the coast. Spring and early autumn are ideal — warm enough for comfortable riding, but with fewer tourists and lower accommodation prices. The Istrian peninsula in the north can be ridden from April.
Croatian roads are generally well-maintained, especially along the coast. The A1 motorway runs inland as a fast north-south alternative to the coastal road. Fuel stations are frequent along major routes but sparse in mountain interiors. Croatia uses the euro, making it easy for riders coming from other EU countries.
