Kaida Kogen & Mt Ontake — Kiso Plateau Ride to the Kiso Horse Village.
From the old Nakasendō post town of Kiso-Fukushima, Route 361 climbs over Jizo Pass onto a 1,100 to 1,300 m plateau of white-birch forest and buckwheat fields spread beneath the 3,067 m volcano Mt Ontake. Cool in summer and famous for soba and the native Kiso horse, it is a relaxed high-plateau ride, out-and-back over the pass.
