Konsei Pass — Oku-Nikkō to Numata over the Kōshin Highlands.
A high alpine crossing on National Route 120 linking Nikkō and Numata. From Lake Chūzenji the road climbs past Oku-Nikkō's hot springs and bores through the Konsei Tunnel — at 1,843 m the highest national-road tunnel in Japan — before dropping through Marunuma and the Katashina valley to Fukiware Falls. Closed by snow roughly December to April.

Chūzenji OnsenStart · Start on the shore of Lake Chūzenji below Nikkō. Fill up — there is no fuel at altitude. The pass is gated in winter.
Ryūzu FallsScenic Point · Roadside cascade that fans out like a dragon's head down a lava slope beside the Yugawa River.
Yumoto OnsenScenic Point · Sulphur hot-spring hamlet on Lake Yunoko — the last services before the climb to the pass.
