Birdsville Track — Marree to Birdsville.
One of Australia's great outback crossings — 517km of red dirt from Marree in South Australia to Birdsville in Queensland, skirting the Tirari, Sturt Stony and Simpson Deserts. Once a cattle-droving route, today it is a remote adventure ride with a single fuel stop at Mungerannie. Carry extra fuel, water and spares, tell someone your plan, and ride it May–September — summer heat is lethal.
