A half-day loop into Adelaide's back garden — the Mount Lofty Ranges rise sharply 15km east of the CBD. The South Eastern Freeway climbs to the Crafers ridge before the route slips off the main road onto Greenhill Road, Mount Lofty Summit Road, and the heritage hill towns of Stirling and Hahndorf. Cool-climate vineyards, German bakeries (Hahndorf was settled by Prussians in 1839), and big views back over the Gulf of St Vincent. Easy paved riding with enough corners to enjoy.

Adelaide CBDStart · Start in central Adelaide. Take the South Eastern Freeway (M1) east — the climb to the Crafers ridge gains 400m in 15 minutes. Exit at Crafers for Mount Lofty Summit Road.
Mount Lofty SummitMountain Pass · 727m highest point of the southern Mount Lofty Ranges. Panoramic view back west over Adelaide and the Gulf of St Vincent. Cleland Conservation Park surrounds the summit — koalas often in the trees.
StirlingScenic Point · Heritage Adelaide Hills village founded 1854. Cool-climate European trees turn red in autumn (April–May). Quaint main street — coffee stop at Organic Market & Café.
HahndorfRestaurant · Australia's oldest surviving German settlement (1839). Lunch at the Hahndorf Inn or German Arms Hotel — German sausage, pork knuckle, German beer. Touristy but historic.
Adelaide CBDEnd · Return to Adelaide via the Greenhill Road descent for an alternative line back — more corners than the freeway and big views of the Gulf as you drop.
